I’d like to give you a little background on the story behind this book. When my oldest son, Timothy, was a preschooler, he discovered the world of dinosaurs. For the next few years, our entire family had the good fortune to be part of that world. Just like the character in DayDreamOsaurus, Timothy studied facts, listened to or read countless books, watched numerous videos, and constantly played with dinosaur figures.

Choosing birthday and Christmas gifts was an easy and inexpensive process – we could not go wrong with a plastic dinosaur figure or a new dinosaur book.  Anything related to dinosaurs was sure to be a hit.  A case in point is that Timothy’s uncle composed an original poem for him on the occasion of Timothy’s fourth birthday.  “Uncle Bill” placed the poem on a card with a picture of a dinosaur skeleton on the front.  That card has been in a scrapbook for over 20 years and remains a prized possession. An adaptation of that poem can be found at the back of this book.

Now that my four kids are grown, I am happy to talk with young mothers and learn that dinosaurs remain a timeless topic of interest.  Since I have long aspired to write children’s literature, what better subject matter could I choose? A unique aspect of this book is the option of personalization of name and character illustration.  Each child can literally see himself or herself as the protagonist. The facts in this book are presented in manageable, visual blocks of information.  This format fosters learning and memorization.  One of the facts about each dinosaur is then anchored to a familiar image as the character DAYDREAMS about the dinosaur.
